About me

Mr. Langbein is the Managing Director and major shareholder of all the Aircraft Support Industries’ (ASI) Group of companies, except ASI (USA). He formed this Group in 1990, and ASI now has wholly-owned subsidiary companies in Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, along with associated companies in the USA and Europe. The Aircraft Support Industries Group is involved in all aspects of aircraft maintenance facilities.

From 2004 to 2005, Mr. Langbein served as the Chief Operating Officer of Strarch Australia Pty Ltd. Prior to this, from 1992 to 2003, he was the Managing Director of Strarch International Limited and its subsidiaries. In this role, he had overall execution responsibility for the running of the company and managed the overall marketing of projects. During his tenure, the company designed and built numerous roof structures worldwide, ranging from 30M spans to 150M spans, with the majority of the work pertaining to aircraft maintenance hangars, bulk storage facilities, and indoor sports complexes.

In 1986, Mr. Langbein formed Airline Support Industries Singapore, taking on the role of General Manager. In 1989, he expanded his endeavors by forming Airline Support Industries Malaysia, where he was a 50% shareholder and Managing Director of both companies. Between 1986 and 1989, he also worked as a consultant for Aero Support Industries USA, overseeing jet engine test cell projects in Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan. In 1989, he became associated with Strarch International and played a key role in securing the 2 bay B747 Hangar project for Airod Sdn Bhd at Subang International Airport in Kuala Lumpur. The project management of this job was carried out by Airline Support Industries Malaysia. Mr. Langbein’s efforts led to the recognition of Strarch as a prominent name in the aircraft maintenance industry throughout Southeast Asia. In 1990, he severed all ties with Airline Support Industries Australia and Airline Support Industries Singapore to form the Aircraft Support Industries Group.

Between 1983 and 1985, Mr. Langbein was associated with Airline Support Industries Australia. He joined the company under one of its subsidiaries, Comana Engineering, to build a jet engine test cell facility for Kuwait Airlines. From 1981 to 1982, he served as the General Manager for Force Constructions Pte Ltd in Singapore, marking his initial involvement in the airline industry. During this time, he acted as a sub-contractor to John Chen Engineering, supplying a B747 docking facility for Singapore Airlines.

From 1979 to 1981, Mr. Langbein worked as a Project Manager for Intveld International Singapore. He was stationed in Bintulu, Sarawak, East Malaysia, managing a $US7.9 million turnkey project for an expatriate village for JGC Kellogg, the main contractors for the LNG plant. In late 1980, he became General Manager and was relocated to Singapore.

Earlier in his career, from 1975 to 1978, Mr. Langbein was a building contractor with Janjuc Building Contractors in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, where he generally built light commercial facilities, office blocks, and housing.
